Fly to San Francisco on the Qantas 787 Dreamliner

Qantas have started selling air fares for their new Melbourne to San Francisco Boeing 787 service that commences on 1 September 2018.

Qantas have started selling air fares for their new Melbourne to San Francisco Boeing 787 service that commences on 1 September 2018. The new route, flying 4 times per week, offers an evening departure and arrival into San Francisco.

This change means the existing Melbourne to Los Angeles 787 service, Qantas’ first Dreamliner service, will drop to 2 times per week, complimented by the city’s existing daily A380 service to Los Angeles.

In addition to selling fares, reward seat bookings are also available. At the moment, there’s still a solid amount of reward seats to pick from. These probably won’t last so get in quick!

Whilst it’s good to see more direct Qantas services to great American cities such as San Francisco, I am more excited to see what USA/European cities they might begin serving from Brisbane.

Buy shares with IG and earn Qantas Points

Currently, if you open a Share Trading account with IG and place a trade you can receive 10,000 bonus Qantas Points.

Currently, if you open a Share Trading account with IG and place a trade you can receive 10,000 bonus Qantas Points. Up until now, all of my ASX trading has been done via the CommSec platform. In comparison, IG offers lower trading rates at $8 per trade and the ability to earn Qantas Points. You can earn 25 Qantas Points for each domestic trade and 50 Qantas Points for all international trade.

Since interest rates are fairly low at the moment, putting money into shares is something that I am considering more and more at the moment.

The only downside to IG is that the shares are not actually held in your name; they’re all held by a single IG controlled entity. This is fine as long as IG never goes out of business. With CommSec the shares are actually issued directly to you, so there is less risk.

If you’re thinking about making a trade seek financial advice.

Cathay Pacific offering double Asia Miles on flights to Hong Kong

Cathay Pacific are offering double Asia Miles on Economy Class flights from Australia to Hong Kong or Mainland China

Cathay Pacific are offering double Asia Miles on Economy Class flights from Australia to Hong Kong or Mainland China booked before 15 September 2017, for travel until 31 October 2017. An additional 1,000 Asia Miles are on offer if you book via the Cathay Pacific website.

If you’re considering travelling to Asia or beyond, I highly recommend Cathay Pacific. The service was comparable to their competitors; not outstanding but good.
